I love that I'm thousands of miles away from Randall's Island in New York and still have access to the amount of incredible art on view this week at the Frieze Art Fair. I was scrolling through the #frieze page and was STOPPED in my tracks when I saw an image of one of Faig Ahmed's woven glitch textiles. I mean holy smokes x1000 this guy rules.
What an exciting new voice in the contemporary art world. I just watched a video of him and started to melt a little watching him walk through what rows of looms creating his new masterpieces.
This is probably one of my favorite topics in contemporary art. The line between art and design or trying to decide where the work fits or collides in either conversation. I haven't seen the pairing of an ancient craft tradition with the language of the Internet executed so well in a long ass time.

I've only seen a few works so far, dripping, bulging, traversing...really really well made, beautiful object of art. My hat's off to you sir and can't wait to see them in person!!
